Chapter 18 In this chapter Jon reveals the dominant theories of the death of chris. He first thought it was that he mistaken the wild potato plant for h. mackenzii which was a poisonous plant. Chris knew that the wild potato plant wasn’t poisonous but when food became scarce he turned to eating the seeds of the wild potato plant. What he didn’t know was that at a certain time of the year , roughly around the time when the ground thaws, the potato seed becomes poisonous. It stops your body from converting food into energy. It was an innocent mistake chris made but it isn’t sure if Chris knew that a few miles away there were two cabins filled with food. Chris began to show signs that he had intention of returning to society when he writes his real name on his final entry. Epilogue Chris’s parents finally visit the place where their son died to understand better of why he did what he did. His mom finds some of his belongings in the bus.
